Scuba Diving - Barrier Reef

So we went out to the barrier reef to do some snorkling, and to do a helmit dive so lynsey could wear her glasses under water. The snorkling was wicked, much better place to snorkal that the places in america ive done before. It was lynseys first time snorkling, so it took a few minutes for her to grasp the fact you dont need to hold your breath =))) but after that all was good. We spent ages snorkling around the area. It really is crazy down there!

We did a helmit dive which was very different to anything ive done before. The helmits are masssssive. Really good fun tho, as they empty feeding bottles infront of you, with 100's of fish all around you. I actually ducked when a fish came straight at me, dunno why, amusing none the less =)

So we loved that day out at the reef so much, we decided to rebook and come back the next day, but on a different boat. This time we booked the SilverSonic boat to go Scuba diving at 3 different dive sites. I and lynsey have never been scuba diving before, so it was a great experience to do together for the 1st time! =)) Once you get over the initial minute its fine. I wasnt exactly comfortable with the situation for the first minute, but after Hide sorted my breathing out, all was good. We came out of the water & immediately booked another dive. Its like nothing youve ever done before. Really really crazy being 10 meters under the water, walking in the sea bed, surrounded by so many fish, colours, coral & 3 sharks!!!! They were only a meter long, but when your 10 meters down, any size shark is nutty to see.

Hide, our instructor was fantastic! he led us around the place, showing us Sea cucumbers, Different types of coral, numerous fishes etc. Other than wathing manu, nothing beats it. We are definately going to dive again, sooooooon!!!
